What is your dream job?

This week I was asked by a friend what my dream job was, I replied with such ramblings that by the end of our coffee date it was all I could think about. How many people have their dream job? At what point do we know what our dream job is? How do we figure this out? Now that this is running through my head, I don’t know where to start in the discovery of what my “dream job” is.

As I do research about how to find your dream job the questions that are asked are these: What are you good at? What are you passionate about? How can you combine these talents and passions in a way that is meaningful to YOU?

These questions are the beginning to my first challenge, what is my next step with my career? I have always had this magical way about flowing into a job that I become very loyal and passionate with, but planning ahead and looking for a job that I’m in love with before I’m in the position, that hasn’t happened yet. That being said, I have learnt so much from the positions I’ve held, with every new job I feel that I get to be a sponge that is absorbing the people and experiences that I am immersed in. The common factor between all the positions is customer service; the ability to connect with people is something I was born with, I know this isn’t something you learn in school or that you can magically be good at over night.

So today, today I know that one answer to the first questions, what are you good at, I know I am good at communicating with people… now is this a job? A hobby? Or am I simply looking in the wrong direction.
